Organization
The Board of Directors is made up of 15 Chelan Valley citizens dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of the community. These men and women are community leaders who bring diversified interests and strengths to the boardroom.

Endowment Fund
In 2002 an Endowment Fund was established by the Foundation for future capital improvements of the Lake Chelan Community Hospital. Initially, funds were provided by a generous donation of two town homes in area. In 2003, a bequest of cash was added. The goal is to accumulate a million dollars in this fund so that the earnings can be used for major needs of the hospital

Accomplishments

  • 1992-1997 “Commitment to Caring” campaign raised funds to add a third floor to the existing hospital structure. Pledges, cash and in-kind donations totaling nearly a million dollars helped to finish this project!
  • 1998 The first “Annual Giving” campaign raised $60,000, enabling additional Emergency Room equipment to be purchased.
  • 2000 $40,000 in donations was used to purchase new sterilization equipment
  • 2001 A three-year campaign was started to help raise funds to equip the Operating Room with a C-Arm Mobile Fluoroscopy X-Ray Unit and an Anesthesia Monitor. $17,000 was used to acquire the Anesthesia Monitor.
  • 2002  Fund raising continues for the C-Arm X-Ray unit and for a Recovery Cardiac Monitor. Cost of the x-ray unit is nearly $200,000.
  • 2003 The Annual Giving Campaign for 2003 – 2004 focused on raising funds to complete the hospital Teleradiology project, and to furnish new recovery rooms with essential equipment for monitoring patients.

Healthcare Educational Scholarships
During the 1992 “Commitment to Caring” campaign, an anonymous donation was made to the Foundation for an Educational Scholarship Fund. In 1995, after the death of Mrs. Edna Bragg, this bequest was made public, and the proceeds from her will were added to the fund. Interest and dividends from the investments may be used for healthcare education for Chelan Valley residents and employees.

Almost $500,000 has been distributed for educational purposes since the Scholarship Fund was established. The Harold and Edna Bragg Scholarship Fund application are available by calling the Foundation office, (509) 682-6125 or emailing Foundation@lcch.net.

Our Goal for 2009 - Raise $80,000 to purchase new ambulance

Since 1987, Lake Chelan Community Hospital (LCCH) Emergency Medical Services has carried on the hospital’s tradition of saving lives and lessening suffering in the community we serve. A community-supported public service, we answer up to 1,200 calls for assistance a year. We also provide event standby coverage up to 100 times a year, bringing our service to everything from school sporting events to law-enforcement and fire emergencies.

Our emergency medical team consists of six fulltime paramedics, five fulltime EMTs, 14 on-call EMTs and six volunteer EMTs. These dedicated personnel work together to staff our aid unit in Manson, paramedic unit at the Chelan fire station, and four units stationed at LCCH.

Our personnel and fleet of vehicles are fully equipped to provide you with lifesaving medical care you need at the scene of your illness or injury, as well as transportation to our hospital or more specialized care. That’s mobile intensive care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Like any equipment, however, our vehicles wear out and periodically need to be replaced and/or updated. Our oldest, largest, heaviest and most difficult unit to maintain is going to be replaced in 2009.

In our search for a new ambulance, we explored many options. Recognizing we are in tough economic times, we worked to make the most prudent choice. After much research, we chose a vehicle that is, on average, about 50% more fuel efficient than our current units. This smaller, space-efficient vehicle has proven itself durable and reliable in the United States and throughout Europe, Asia, Canada and South America. We will be the first ambulance service in the region to try this new type of vehicle, which will be customized to meet the needs of our community.

To replace a typical ambulance, it costs about $120,000. This newer, more economical vehicle is $80,000. While a huge investment for us, a price tag cannot be attached to the many lives we save every day.

At LCCH, we pride ourselves with having the best paramedics and EMTs. They’ve touched so many families in the Lake Chelan Valley. I continuously run into your neighbors, relatives and friends who share stories with me about how we saved a life. The stories are real. And we do work miracles and save lives. While we have an incredible staff, they need the equipment to be successful. This replacement ambulance is necessary. Would you please help us save another life today? Thank you for your continued support!
