News from EMS Auxiliary: by Vita Monteleone
Well, here we are again looking at the beginning of a new year, and the
EMS department has been very busy this past year. Our fund aising has
started off with a bang. We received a check from the Lake Chelan
Boating Club for over $350 from Commodore Franz Holm-Nielsen. Sue
Baker, one of our Manson volunteer EMT’s, created and donated a
beautiful quilt which was raffled this last summer at the Boating
Club's annual yard sale.
We have also applied for the “Enrichment Fund” grant through Lake
Chelan Chamber of Commerce. We where very lucky to receive this award
last year in the amount of $1000, and since it takes about $2,500-3,000
to fund the Annual EMS Banquet, we want to raise as much money as
possible. Christy Winegarden (another of our Manson volunteers) will
once again help by organizing the EMS Car Wash, which is always a big
success.
Our banquet date will be April 25 at the Chelan County Fire District 7
but a caterer has not been selected yet. In recent years we have had
the services of Tim Dodge from Uncle Tim’s Pizzeria and Pasta House in
Manson. Tim offers such a variety of foods at such a reasonable price
that we love having him.
We have traditionally offered Prime Rib with Rosemary Fettuccine,
Chicken Fettuccine, baked potatoes (with all the trimmings), salad bar
(with 5 different salads, something for everyone’s taste buds) and
wonderful desserts furnished by Donna Coggin’s Pies and cheesecakes
from the EMS Auxiliary. Of course to top off that menu there is coffee,
tea and donated Coca Cola products. Now doesn’t that all just make your
mouth water?
The EMS Auxiliary has coordinating the EMS Banquet for over 17 years,
so we kind of have it down to a science at this point, but there will
always be the same concerns; will everyone show up, will I have enough
money, will there be enough gifts, will I have enough money, will there
be a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) during the dinner, will the guest
speaker show up, will I have enough money… As you can see everything
comes into play no matter how long you have been doing this. Hopefully
everything will run smooth and we can enjoy our time together honoring
our full-time and volunteer staff members who give so much to our
community.
